March Madness 2018

Great way to start the show season!  Sweethearts Legacy, owned by Peggy Cummings, won the Open Derby, and rode to a 2nd in the Open Hackamore.  Not too shabby for this little 4 year old!  Remedy On The Bay, owned by Mildy Roberts, debuted with EJ aboard and placed 3rd in the Open Red Shirt Derby with a respectable 213.5.  Riley Friesen continues to make steady gains in her reining and earned her first paycheck of the year in the Youth Limited.  Amanda Friesen ran in to some tough luck in the Non Pro Ltd Derby, but held a very tough cow in the boxing, and we consider that a win!  Wyatt Marshall rocked it again, placing 2nd in the Non Pro Spectacular and winning the Int Non Pro Bridle.  Carol Walt made her debut in the arena and rode to a 2nd place finish in the Pro Am Box.

2017 Recap

We've had a wonderful 2017 show season - Thank you to the owners and non pros who make it all possible!

EJ finished the season with lifetime earnings over $155,000, and is ranked 41st on the Top 50 Rider LAE list (out of... a lot!), which is based on a 3 year total.  Kathryn (owned by Bev & Dallas Talkington) won the North Central Open Two Rein, the CRCA Open Two Rein, and currently leading the nation!  Wood Boon (owned by Darell Wollert) had a big year as a 5 year old, riding to a 7th place finish in the Intermediate Open Finals at The NRCHA Peptoboonsmal Cow Horse Classic Derby and making the Intermediate Open Finals at the Stallion Stakes! She went on to win the Derby at Drought Buster, and place in the $ at Sagebrush. She finished the year with some great runs mixed in with some bad luck.  She is off to be a momma, and we can't wait to see her  babies!  The 3 futurity horses had a great first show year, with Sweethearts Legacy (owned by Peggy Cummings) earning a Reserve Championship at the CRCA Mid America Futurity, and both Candy Rap (owned by Darell Wollert) and Wright As Hail (Ty Gillum) earning checks at the CO State Fair and CRCA CO Futurities.  Assistant Trainers -- Shane Watson brought his mare in to the showpen, and Liberty Schmeid won her first Open $ riding Docs Painted Colonel (Peggy Cummings).  Non Pros - Megan Ciana finished the season with a Reserve NRCHA Regional Championship, as well as a reserve in the CRCA in the Non Pro Two Rein on Cold Day in Hail.  Her lifetime earnings exceed $37,000, and she is ranked 36th on the Top Non Pro riders 3 year average LAE list. Alison Brantley had a fabulous year on her two horses, boosting her earnings to over $23,000.  She claimed a championship at the NRCHA Peptoboonsmal Cow Horse Classic Non Pro Ltd Derby with Wild Haired Trooper, and made back to back finals in AQHA Select Worlds with Fletch Me If You Can, alongside Wild Haired Trooper making Top 10!  Peggy and Wendell Cummings continued showing, with Peggy riding a new mount (Docs Painted Colonel) and Wendell pulling Diablos Painted Doc out of retirement, and placing 4th and 5th in the Ltd Amateur Working Cowhorse at APHA Worlds! Amanda Friesen ended the season riding her futurity horse and earning Reserve Championships in both Non Pro Ltd Futurities! Riley Friesen & Nado Nic gained ground in all aspects, consistently marking in the 70's in the boxing and making vast improvements in the reining.  They finished 10th in the North Central region Youth Ltd division, and qualified for the NRCHA World Show!  She also very much enjoyed hanging out with her new friends.  Not bad for an 8 year old who started showing one year ago!
